Caracol
The splendorous Caracol was the largest metropolis in the Maya lowlands of ancient time and is located deep within the Chiquibul Forest Reserve in the Maya Mountains. While travelling to this location, you will enjoy a stunning scenery of the flora and fauna that enhance the true beauty of this magnificent Maya City. Here, you will be given a life time experience as you trail along paths that was once threaded by nobles and peasants that lived in this mystic world. Caracol is the largest Maya archaeological site in Belize. Archeological discoveries has revealed that Caracol had an urban area approximately 10 kilometers in radius around the center of the city, in the year 650 AD. Caracol is a world in which the gods demanded ceremonies and rituals.
Time: 7:30AM to 5:00PM ( 91/2 hrs)
Things to bring: comfortable clothes, appropriate footwear to hike, camera, mosquito repellant, sun screen, towel, complete change of clothes, bathing suite
